For the past 19 years, Jeremy Edwards has come to work every day ready to give it his all. Having worked his way up from a temp position to Senior Financial Analyst of Amsted Rail in Hammond, Indiana, Jeremy embodies a spirit of ownership, growth and collective success.
Jeremy’s path to Amsted Rail began when his wife’s career led them from Iowa to Indiana. He came across a job posting for Amsted Rail and recognized it as a promising opportunity, particularly interested in the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). His previous employer was also an ESOP company, so he was already aware of the great benefits of an employee-ownership structure.
Jeremy began his career at the Hammond plant as a temporary data entry employee and quickly advanced through various roles—first as a buyer/planner, then as a materials supervisor, followed by supply chain manager—before ultimately securing the position of financial analyst. Today, he plays a key role in the month-end closing process, assists in quarterly forecasts and annual plans, and drives innovation through improvements in reporting processes. He also helps to reinforce best practices across Amsted Rail’s Truck & End-of-Car and Bearings & Seals divisions.
Jeremy got where he is today largely thanks to a strong work ethic and a commitment to the success of the business. His strengths lie in analyzing data, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization. Jeremy says he defines success as knowing you put your all into a project or task, and the feeling of accomplishment for knowing you did the best possible job. In addition to his personal motivation, the collective sense of ownership at Amsted Rail resonates with Jeremy.
Another contributing factor to Jeremy’s success has been collaboration and mentorship. Throughout his career, he’s had ample opportunities to collaborate with Amsted Rail’s various locations, where individuals gladly share best practices and extend support. Jeremy says the mentorship he has received over the years has been instrumental in shaping his path, enabling him to navigate challenges and reach the position he holds today.
Jeremy looks forward to the future of Amsted Rail as well as his own. He sees himself taking on additional responsibilities within different areas of Amsted Rail, and aims to leverage his experience for the benefit of the team as a mentor himself. As for Amsted Rail, Jeremy envisions the company continuing to grow its international footprint to become the gold standard of rail components across the globe.
